Nancy C. Alston

Our beloved Mother Mrs. Nancy C. Alston departed this life on March 8, 2018.  Mrs.  Alston was born July 8, 1952 to the late Samuel F. Smith and Clara Mae Smith.  She was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Powell of Portsmouth, VA and William Smith, and her husband, Isaac Alston. Mrs. Alston graduated from Cradock High School and the University of Pennsylvania (Pitt University) where she received her Masters Degree in education.  Her favorite saying being “I went to Pitt!!” and “N….. you don’t know nothing!”

She leaves to cherish her memory: her son Vashaun of Durham, North Carolina; a daughter, Clara Smith of Portsmouth, Virginia; one sister, Mrs. Lavern Sherrill of Braddock, Pa, and ( one adopted sister) Mrs. Linda Williams of Newport News, Virginia.  Mrs. Alston had two adopted daughters, Tracy, Kimberly, and Darlene; 10 grandchildren, Jayla, Nasir, Justice, Antonio, Raquan, Shavari, Jabri, Terrie, Kiara, and Sharnetha; and a host of cousins, family and friends, among them a devoted and very loyal friend, Edna Everette of Portsmouth, Virginia.  We love and miss you deeply, but we know that you are now with the Lord.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018, from 12 Noon – 1 pm at Ministries In Christ Outreach, 5921 Churchland Blvd., Portsmouth, Virginia  23703.
