On the morning of March 2, 2024, our Heavenly Father received into His loving arms our beloved Tracy M. Johnson. Tracy
was born in Norfolk, Virginia to Petro Johnson and Marilyn Powell on April 11, 1976. She was their fourth child and entered
the world full of life and curiosity. Her mother noted her high activity and inquisitiveness.
Her sisters and brothers enjoyed her comedic flair and liveliness; she always had a gift for making the whole family laugh and
for turning an ordinary moment into a celebration.
She attended public schools in Norfolk and Chesapeake, Virginia. Along with her academics, Tracy engaged in activities that
helped to develop her God given talents. Tracy shared her outgoing personality and attention to details as a cheerleader
and home-based hairdresser. She also excelled in her home economics class, a pivotal moment in her journey to culinary prowess.
Tracy was employed at Tegar formerly known as Artifax, for over 20 years. Tracy started as an inventory worker. Through her
noted strong work ethic and drive for excellence, Tracy was promoted through the ranks and became an auditor.
Tracy was well known by many for her hospitality and her famous cooking abilities.
She loved to cook for her family and friends and host all the family functions. To taste her dishes of pancit, pasta salad, yok or crab
balls was to take a trip back to your childhood, the Philippines, or your favorite
neighborhood cookout; her flavor combinations and cooking savvy were just that good! Tracy shared a love for decorating with her sisters and also began exploring her
love for traveling in Las Vegas, Texas, and the Bahamas.
Tracy is preceded in death by her son Shakiyl H. Johnson. She leaves to mourn and cherish her loving memory her parents, seven sons:
Jhamani Johnson, Stevaun Taylor, Noah and Nathan Johnson, Terrell Johnson, Jabari Johnson, and Brandon “BJ” Gray and one
daughter Tydeshia Trowell, all of Norfolk, VA, her three sisters Marcina Johnson, Norfolk, Virginia, Beverly Johnson, San Antonio, Texas and LaToya Johnson,
Norfolk, Virginia. She leaves two brothers Petro Johnson and Troy Johnson both of Norfolk, Virginia and five grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces,
cousins, friends and one god daughter Nikirah Hardy.
