Verlena Bess

Mrs. Verlena Bess, 88, passed away in Portsmouth, VA on Sunday January 7, 2024. Verlena was born on July 12,1935 to the late Walter Brown and Ettel Brown. She was the oldest girl of her siblings of (7) seven. She worked at Burger King on airline Blvd for over 30 years. Everyone knew her by the name “granny”. She was a member of Celestial Baptist Church in Portsmouth, VA. She was a strong mother and grandmother and great grandmother. She leaves behind three children. Her daughter; the late Cecelia Bess, and her sons; the late Maurice Bess Sr and Antonio Bess.
