Wendell Calvin Harris Jr. (WC HJ) died after a lengthy illness on Wednesday-May 14, 2025. Junior was born to Rosa Lee and Calvin Harris on March 18, 1972, at Portsmouth General Hospital in Portsmouth Virginia. He attended Portsmouth Public Schools. Junior lived much of his life in Portsmouth, but also resided in New Britain, Connecticut.

Wendell was a hardworking man that loved his family. Some of his work experiences were with Amazon & Job Corps. Other employment was as a phlebotomist and nursing assistant. He enjoyed spending time with those he loved. Additionally, Junior loved a good laugh and lending a hand to anyone that needed it. He is survived by Rachael-his companion and primary caregiver through his illness. Family members include Sid Harris (son) & Kearra Harris (daughter), Rosa Lee Harris (mother), Robert Harris/brother (Ashley), sisters, Jacqueline Elliott (Todd), Grace Cribs, Lolita High (Desmond), and Yolanda Cassell (Ivan).

Other family members include Mary Brown Johnson (honorary mom), Cyrana Collins, Dametrius Edwards, & Romika Johnson (honorary sisters) and Dalian Johnson (honorary brother). Junior also has a host of cousins, nieces and nephews that will dearly miss him as he provided much happiness and laughter. Predeceased family members included his brothers Anthony & Wilbert Harris, Nephews Arthur “AJ” Harris & , Eric O. Harris, Grandmother Rosa A. Harris, Aunt Barbara J. Harris, Uncles, Sylvester, Lawrence, and Derrick Harris.
