Merion G. Grant passed away peacefully and gained her heavenly angel wings on June 3, 2025 in Portsmouth, Virginia. Merion lived a very long life and passed away at 86 years old. Merion was born on December 29, 1938 in Suffolk, Virginia. Merion was the daughter of the late Runnie Eason and Cliff Wooden and predeceased by her loving Husband of 50 years, Hugo W. Grant Sr.
Merion was the family Matriarch. Merion gave great advice, wisdom, was very funny and always kept it real. Also she was a comfort to many and a joy to all, most of her time was spent taking care of her family and her friends. Merion was also a caring and loving person that everyone loved to visit. She was a strong, faith-filled woman who touched countless lives and helped so many people. She loved to cook and made sure that everyone ate, no matter who you were. She was also an avid Lottery Player and was always ready to work out a number for you to play.
Merion is survived by her Daughters: Paulette F. Butler, Angelo L. Hicks (Spouse: Jerry), Cynthia T. Grant, Marjorie L. Grant, Cecilia L. Grant, Unique W. Grant and her Son: Clifton K. Grant (Spouse: Katuria), Stepson: David L. Grant, Son-in-Law: Floyd Colden, and Sister: Vivian Colden.
Merion is also predeceased in death by her Daughter: Faline L. Colden and Son: Junious L. Wooden, Son-in-Laws: Huley Butler III and Jasper Hill Sr., 5 Grandchildren, and Stepson, Hugo W. Grant Jr.
Merion also leaves behind 28 Grandchildren, 23 Great Grandchildren: an extended Grandchild-Iyhana Bell, 1 Nephew, 1 Niece and a host of other relatives. She was a loving, dedicated and caring grandmother
