On Sunday, December 3, 2023, God, in his infinite wisdom and strength, allowed our mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, Elaine Delphine Farmer to enter into eternal rest.
Elaine was born in Portsmouth, VA on January 3, 1952 to the late Whitney Farmer ll and Dicey M. Farmer, and was the second child of her parents. At a young age, she attended Celestial Baptist Church, where she sang in the Youth’s Choir. Her favorite songs to sing were “ Amazing Grace” and “Can’t Nobody Do Me Like Jesus”. Elaine was educated in Portsmouth Public Schools, and later established a skill set as a childcare provider for family and friends.
Elaine had an intense love and affection for her extremely large family and friends. But most of all, her love for her three daughters and her four grandchildren was unconditional. She bragged and boasted about any achievements, success, and milestones they reached. As far as fashion, her favorite colors were silver, bronze, and gold. The “Three Ladies” as she would call them and anything leopard print. It was a must that she accessorized and included her dark lipstick. She also loved traveling, whether it was visiting family, cruising and flying. Her last trip was her dream vacation to Las Vegas. Elaine was committed to cooking with love. Who else would wake up in the wee hours of the morning and cook a full meal? Elaine most definitely will. Her specialty dishes were macaroni and cheese, any type of quiche, and home made barbeque to name a few. Her impact will forever be etched in the hearts of many. She was hilarious, sassy, straight to the point and that’s the way we’ll always remember her.
Elaine is predeceased by her father and mother, Whitney Farmer ll and Dicey M. Farmer, her brothers, Whitney Farmer lll and Irvin Farmer, and her grandchild Talik Farmer.
Elaine leaves to cherish her memory with her loving three daughters, Kenesha Farmer, Chimere Garland (Paul), and Juandrita Farmer; her grandchildren, Demani Dunn, Demiya Dunn, and Peyton Garland; her great grandchild, Demani Dunn Jr; her five brothers, James Farmer (Vanessa), Edward Farmer, Wendell Farmer (Gwen), John Farmer and Robert Farmer(Brenda); and her sister; Mary Bishop(Anthony); and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, family and friends.
